The Southeastern Section remains committed to providing educational and humanitarian volunteerism opportunities for its members and residents through a number of programs.
SESAUA Resident Opportunities
SESAUA Resident Course
The Southeastern Section sponsors an annual robotics course in Celebration, Florida. One resident per academic program within the Section is invited to attend the course. For additional information, please contact Samantha Florine in the SESAUA Executive Office.
SESAUA International Volunteerism Program
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Southeastern Section has placed a temporary hold on the volunteerism program and is not accepting applications at this time.
The SESAUA remains committed to promoting experiences in international volunteerism for the section’s residents. The Section will support up to eight (8) residents to participate in the IVUmed Scholarship Program and an additional six (6) residents, at $3,000 each, to participate in other volunteerism opportunities. The funding period runs from January 1st – December 31st.
SESAUA Member Opportunities
SESAUA Grant Program
The COVID-19 pandemic has changed medical practice in the short-term and will likely also have long-term lasting effects. The Southeastern Section of the AUA, Inc. (SESAUA) is interested in supporting academic efforts related to the pandemic in any or all of the following areas:
- Research related to how COVID-19 directly affects urologic physiology and/or disease in patients
- Operational changes to medical practice, including the use of telemedicine
- Medical provider and staff safety
The SESAUA Board of Directors has approved the authorization of up to $20,000 to support this work. These funds will be divided upon the advice of the Executive Committee.
SESAUA Active Members in good standing are eligible. Supporting work by trainees and others is acceptable as long as SESAUA Active Member is main sponsor. Applications are currently being accepted through November 30,2020 and recipients will be notified of the award by January 15th, 2021.
